Thank you!

“What is the view of industry on the skill sets of maintenance and/or avionics technicians?”  “Is the present education of airframe, power plant, and avionics technicians addressing the needs of industry in the certification, maintenance, and modification of the current and future fleets of aircraft?”  “Are the current AABI Criteria adequate to meet industry needs and, if not, what changes are in order?”  “What pathways are available for future maintenance technicians and pilots?”  “Are recent graduates equipped to operate in an industry SMS airline, airport or manufacturing environment?”

Do the quotes above sound familiar?  Are these issues with which you contend on a daily basis?  These are just a few of the topics that will be discussed at this year’s Industry/Educator Forum at the AABI’s Annual Meeting, held July 18-22 in Toronto, Ontario.  Throughout the Forum, members of industry will present to their academic colleagues the issues they face on the subjects of Preparing Aviation Maintenance Technicians for Airline Employment, Gateway/Pathway Programs for Maintenance Technicians and Pilots, and Implementing SMS for Airlines and Universities.  Vital issues will be raised and solutions discussed, all of which will lead to meaningful change within the academic environment and industry in the months and years ahead.  Plan now to attend!

There are two types of aviation programs: those that are AABI-accredited, and those that will be.
