Gary J. Northam, Ph.D.
Dr. Gary Northam has been teaching in the field of aviation, pilot training, and aviation safety since 1989 with Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas; Parks College of Engineering and Aviation at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri; and with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona since July, 2005. Dr. Northam earned his Ph.D. degree in the field of Adult Education from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Dr. Northam was Professor and Chair of the Department of Safety Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University from 2005 to 2010. In 2010 he was appointed as Dean of the College of Aviation and held that position from 2010 to 2013.
Dr. Northam holds the Commercial Single/Multi Engine Land Instrument Airplane Certificate and Ratings and the Certified Instrument Instructor Certificate.
Dr. Northam has published articles on Ethics and Moral Development as applied to aviation and has made presentations on these subjects along with a number of other aviation and pilot training topics.
Dr. Northam currently serves as President of the Aviation Accreditation Board International, a position he has held since January, 2014.
Vice President of Operations
Ms. Ceci Shirley is the vice president of operations for the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). She has been with the non-profit organization for more than 15 years and was the 2008 recipient of AABI’s President’s Award. Prior to joining AABI, she was an account executive with a full service marketing and communications firm in Pennsylvania. In her role there, she handled over 40 accounts, which included universities, organizations and industrial corporations. She is a member of the National Scholars Honor Society.
Gary W. Kiteley
Mr. Gary W. Kiteley, CAM, FACFEI, has 53 years in aviation starting as a line mechanic for Ozark Airlines while working his way through a baccalaureate degree program at the University of Minnesota, while simultaneously earning his FAA Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificates. He joined the faculty of Purdue University as flight instructor while completing a M.S. in education. After four years at Purdue, Mr. Kiteley joined the faculty of Auburn University where he began as a CFI, and then became director of Aviation that included the University owned airport, FBO, air transport services and flight school. As an associate professor, he taught senior courses in airport management, aviation law and insurance, and general aviation. During his tenure at Auburn, he was appointed as the first executive director of the University Aviation Association (UAA), and guided UAA through 20 years of service to FAA by means of the Airway Science program. After retirement from Auburn University, Mr. Kiteley served as the first executive director of the newly-formed Council on Aviation Accreditation (CAA), and continues in that role today under the banner of the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI).
Mr. Kiteley holds the FAA ATP, CFI, A&P, and served 41 years as a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). In addition to several awards from FAA, he received the Wheatley and Presidents Awards from UAA, and the Frank G. Brewer Trophy from NAA.
Ms. Victoria ‘Vic’ Montanez, is the senior administrator for the Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI). She has been with the non-profit organization for eight years. Prior to joining AABI, she was the scene shop assistant for Auburn University’s Theatre Department. In her role there, she built sets and props for the theatre productions, supervised students and maintained the scene shop. She attended Humber College of Arts and Technology in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she earned her degree in Radio Broadcasting; and Auburn University where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatrical Technology and Design. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key Society.
